About Us

The Maranatha church family has been in the Southside community of Tallahassee, Florida for over 30 years. The heart of our mission here at Maranatha is to encourage others with the hope found in experiencing a personal relationship with a living God and loving Savior, and to nurture them in preparation for His soon return. We are committed to serving our community and creating an atmosphere of love, service, and friendship with those who are a part of our church.

WHO ARE WE and WHAT DO WE BELIEVE??

The Maranatha family is part of the Seventh-Day Adventist world-wide family of believers. Seventh-day Adventists rejoice in the privilege of knowing Jesus Christ, becoming more like Him, and serving other, as He did.  We accept the 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Those beliefs can be found here.

Mission/Vision/Values/Beliefs

MISSION STATEMENT:

Be Like Jesus, Make Disciples, Equip Our Fellowship

Summary
The mission statement has as its foundational principle the Great Commission enunciated by our Lord and Savior in Matthew 28: 18-20. This command follows a committed and transformational relationship between Jesus Christ and us. Our love for Christ inspires within us a zeal for others to experience the assurance of salvation. As a result, we work, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to introduce and win our neighbors to Jesus Christ. As we seek to do this work, we give our members, of all ages and abilities, the tools to increase the Kingdom of God through instructional, team, and “on-the-job” training.

VISION STATEMENT:

Our vision is that we be a fellowship of Jesus Christ’s disciples where intergenerational equipping births total member engagement, leading every ministry to touch our neighbors on the Southside.

Summary

Members of Maranatha SDA Church have experienced the saving grace of Jesus, are renewed by His Spirit, and guided by His Word. Transformed by an experience with Jesus, members are empowered to create a fellowship where all are bound by Christ’s love, and help foster an environment of mutual support, encouragement, and growth.

This loving and supportive environment produces an atmosphere for effective equipping of each member for service. Recognizing the need to encourage and maintain the relevance of the church in these closing days of earth’s history, the church provides consistent periodic training of all its members throughout the year for productive ministry. As a result, we willingly and intentionally train the next generation to participate in ministries and become leaders. We consistently mine for talent and interest among our members to identify for every participant effective areas of service in the Lord’s work. In addition to formal ministry training, we promote sharing of practical knowledge and experience with participants to assist in their development.
